The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting was held in Kampala, Uganda, from 23rd November to 25th November 2007. Over 50 Heads of state came to Uganda making the 2007 CHOGM the most successful.
The Colourful Ceremony was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 2nd ,who was accompanied by her husband Prince Phillip.
At the same time ,Uganda welcomed Prince Charles,and the Dutches of Cromwell,Lady Camila Bowles.
The opening ceremony of the 2007 CHOGM meeting on 23rd November 2007 ,was preceded by various meetings; Youth forum, Peoples forum,and Business forum. The business forum was officially opened by H.E Yoweri Museveni.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 ,arrived for a State Vist on 21st November 2007. She was welcomed by H.E President Yoweri Museveni ,the Firstlady Mrs Janet Museveni,at State House Entebbe. The Queen Inspected the guard of honour by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and a 21 gun salute,and was welcomed by thousands of Ugandans’ who lined the 21 miles route from Entebbe to Kampala.
On 23rd November 2007 The Queen opened the CHOGM at Kampala Serena Confrence center, after which the Heads of State went for retreat at Munyonyo Speke Resort Kampala. The Kampala CHOGM was lauded as one of the best CHOGM ever held.
