The first ever Africa’s Next Top Model Aamito Stacy Queen has revealed her plans of what she’ll do with her Shs 125m jackpot after Uganda Revenue Authority makes their cut.

“It has always been my wish to help women living with Fistula back in my home town Kitgum. Now that i have the money, i would like to set up projects to help these women live a better life,” Aamito told the press on Friday held at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.

Fistula is a suffering caused by obstetric fistula, a childbirth injury caused by prolonged, unrelieved obstructed labor that renders a woman incontinent – an injury that can only be treated through surgery. Most rural women in Uganda unfortunately cannot afford the surgery and therefore forever live in pain and anguish.

The Ugandan born and breed Aamito Queen Stacy was crowned the first ever Africa’s Next Top Model cycle one by Oluchi Orlando that took place in South Africa for 10 weeks. Aamito was up against 11 other models from other African countries that include South Africa (3), Nigeria (3), Ghana (1), Kenya (1), Angola (1), Tunisia (1) and Mozambique (1).

Aamito was crowned Africa’s Next Top Model cycle 1 at a grand finale held in new York. She walked away with USD 50,000, a one year modeling contract with DNA Modeling Agency in New York and she’ll also be a brand ambassador for several products that include SNAPP, P&G and Etisalat.

During the press conference, Aamito encouraged her fellow Ugandan models to continue with the struggle to build the modeling and fashion in Uganda. Her local manager Joram Muzira Job, the CEO of Joram Model Management Uganda says he will use the path paved by Aamito to market the rich talent Ugandans have especially in the fashion Industry.

Aamito hopes that from now on, Uganda fashion and modeling industry can also be put on the same level of the world’s fashion cities like Milan, Paris, New York, to mention but a few.
